The mass Australian immigration that took place in the nineteenth century has actual documents now. The documents of the Australian immigration are officially out.
But these documents are withered and torn because of their age. But many famous celebrities like Heath Ledger and Nicole Kidman whose parents were parts of this Australian immigration have their family records here. Now these documents are going to go online for the very first time. The documents related to the Australian immigration (1788 to 1923) and will showcase more than 14.5 million journeys to the subcontinent.
The documents include passenger lists, musters, census information and other documents from the period, assembled from microfilm in state record offices and archives and will be accessed on Ancestry.com.au. "These are long journeys and in many cases somewhat arduous journeys, where one would have people dying on board and being buried at sea. This Australian immigration wasn't the pleasure cruise that it became in the 20th century" said Ancestry content director Brad Argent.

Are you considering applying for Australian citizenship?

If your dream is to live "down under," you'll have to fulfill several requirements. Anyone over the age of 16 who has obtained permanent residency in Australia may apply for citizenship. "Lawful residency" means that you have resided in Australia for a total of four years, with absences only adding up to less than 12 months.

Do you have "good character" and have a knowledge of basic English? That alone will make you a desirable candidate. You'll also have to possess some knowledge of your responsibilities as a citizen. Lastly, you will be expected to reside in Australia, or at least maintain a "close and continuing association" with the country.

If you think you can meet these requirements, good luck in your transition to becoming an Aussie.
